Why Use a Pool Cover Pump?
Cover Pumps are an essential pool closing accessory if you own an inground pool or an above ground pool. Cover Pumps sit atop your winter pool cover and pump water off of its surface after it reaches a certain level. This alleviates stress and weight off of your pool cover throughout the course of the winter. Submersible utility pumps can also be used for lowering water level or draining hot tubs.
Swimming pool cover pumps also add a measure of safety for winterizing an inground pool by eliminating the need to knock heavy snow off the cover yourself. You simply wait for the snow to melt, and let the safety cover pump do the rest of the work.
Automatic cover pumps will turn themselves on and off to keep the cover mostly pumped off, automatically. Manual cover pumps will run whenever plugged in, and are thus used intermittently, and unplugged when not in use.
All winter pool cover pumps are fully submersible, and can also be used for lowering pool water level or other household dewatering applications. All of our submersible pumps include 25 ft NEMA power cord, and use a garden hose discharge hose (not included).
TIP: To keep your pool cover pump from clogging with leaves and for easier placement and retrieval, place it on an upside down Frisbee™. A pool Leaf Rake Net is useful for scooping leaves from a solid cover, or remove them all at once with a Leaf Net Cover.
